How To Do Bas Rutten's Escape From A Guillotine Choke
Mixed martial arts legend Bas Rutten gives a lesson in mixed martial arts. Learn how to escape from an opponent's deadly
guillotine choke.
- Step 1:
- Your Caught
- The guillotine choke goes straight up in the throat. So if you look to the side and your opponent pulls
straight up now, there is no choke.
- Step 2:
- Trap Legs
- In order to escape, put your hands on your opponent's legs (above the knee) so he cannot move his legs
around your body.
- Step 3:
- Side Step
- Step to the side and dig your jaw into your opponent's chest. By doing this, the choke will not work.
Your opponent can pull up on your throat, but if you dig your jaw into his chest, he will be pulling on the side of your neck,
instead of your throat. This makes it an ineffective choke.
- Step 4:
- Grip Legs & Lift
- Now put one arm between your opponent's leg, and the other arm around his back. Lift him up. Now you
can slam your opponent down as hard as you want.
