How To Do Bas Rutten's Guillotine Choke
Mixed martial arts legend Bas Rutten gives a lesson in mixed martial arts. Learn how to perform a deadly guillotine choke
that will force your opponent to tap out.
- Step 1:
- Slide And Grab
- When an opponent tries to take you to the ground, he may make the mistake of coming at your side instead
of straight into your chest. Because he makes that mistake, he exposes his neck. When this happens, make your hand into a
thin blade and slide it in underneath his jaw. Now grip your hand with your other hand and make sure you keep your arms close
to your body so he cannot put his arm inside your arm.
- Step 2:
- Fall Back
- Now fall backwards. While falling backwards, bring your legs up early or else he's going to jump out.
- Step 3:
- Push And Choke
- It's very important that you have your legs wrapped around him. Now you're going to push your hips upwards
and you're going to push your hands into his throat. This will give him the guillotine choke.
- Bonus Tip
Always make sure that your legs catch his body. Ideally both legs or maybe even just one leg.
That would be good too. What you want to make sure of, is that he's not going to somersault out. If you open my guard, he's
going to roll to the side. If you don't close your legs, he might escape. So be sure to keep your legs tight around your opponent.
